Two Ventura County men are going to prison for more than 100 years each under provisions of the “three strikes” law.
Guadalupe Lopez, 42, and David Allen Smith, 42, were sentenced Thursday in Ventura County Superior Court in separate cases.
Lopez, who was previously convicted of multiple armed robberies in the Santa Paula area, was sentenced to 127 years to life in state prison for the same offense.
Smith, a Port Hueneme resident who served prison time for felony child molestation, was convicted of four counts of molesting a co-worker’s 9-year-old daughter in Saticoy last year. He was given 105 years to life.
Smith “is the kind of man the ‘three strikes’ legislation was intended for,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Maeve Fox said. “He’s a habitual offender. If Mr. Smith were released from custody, I have no doubt in my mind he would continue to molest little kids.”
