A plane carrying a group of miners crashed while trying to land in rugged mountains of northwestern Mexico, killing 16 people and seriously injuring three others, authorities said. The plane was flying from Durango, the capital of Durango state, when it crashed near a remote airstrip in Santa Maria de Otaes, about 570 miles northwest of Mexico City, a state government spokesman said.
