Motion Filed to Force Simpson to Answer More Questions

Attorneys angling for evidence in pretrial jostling have petitioned a Superior Court judge to force O.J. Simpson to answer questions about his alleged adulterous affairs, his relationship with Los Angeles police officers, his physical condition and other topics.

Simpson submitted to 10 days of grilling this winter, answering many detailed questions from lawyers pressing a wrongful-death suit against him. But he has refused to return for another round. And he has declined to answer some of the questions that most interest opposing attorneys.

Daniel M. Petrocelli, the lawyer representing relatives of murder victim Ronald Lyle Goldman, filed a 65-page motion with the court last week asking a judge to order Simpson to answer questions such as: “Do you believe you were framed by the LAPD?” “Have you . . . done anything to track down the real killer or killers?” and “Did you tell [minister] Rosey Grier that you killed Ron and Nicole [Brown Simpson]?”

Superior Court Judge Alan B. Haber will consider the motion at a hearing June 5. He will also weigh a similar petition from Simpson’s lawyers. They are asking for a court order compelling Goldman’s sister, Kim, to answer questions about how her family is financing the suit and about her conversations with various lawyers.
