Jeffrey Parris, a 6-foot-6 forward from Long Beach Jordan High, has become the first player signed by new Cal State Northridge basketball Coach Bobby Braswell.
Parris averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds for Jordan, leading the Panthers to the Southern Section Division I championship. Parris was an All-State and All-Southern Section selection, and was the most valuable player in the Moore League.
Northridge has signed three recruits. The others--Brady Mertes, a 6-8 forward from Moorpark College, and Sha-Ron Elzy, a 6-5 guard from Chaffey College--came aboard before Braswell took the job.
