ANAHEIM — An accident involving a big rig and two cars blocked traffic on the Riverside Freeway for nearly four hours Tuesday evening, and left a diesel spill and a gaping hole in the center divider, CHP officials said.
The accident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on the eastbound freeway at Harbor Boulevard. The truck crashed through the center divider, blocking two lanes on the eastbound side and one lane on the westbound side, officials said. The westbound lane was closed until 6:10 p.m., and the eastbound lanes were closed until 7:15 p.m.
Caltrans workers removed 75 gallons of diesel fuel. Crews also repaired a 10-foot gap in the median, CHP officials said.
No one was cited, and the accident remained under investigation. It was unclear as of Tuesday evening what caused it, a CHP officer said.
