Walnut Gets Out-Foxed by Newbury Park, 2-1

Kristi Fox continued to dominate opposing batters as Newbury Park High defeated Walnut, 2-1, in a second-round Southern Section Division I game Tuesday at Walnut (14-11).
Fox (17-3) pitched a three-hitter, struck out 11, and walked three for the Panthers (23-5-1), who will play Anaheim Canyon on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
Fox singled in the fourth inning and later scored when the Walnut catcher dropped the ball on a play at the plate.
Tina Roscoe scored the winning run on a squeeze by Emily Webster.
Thousand Oaks 3, Gahr 0--Jennifer Sharron struck out 12 batters and allowed two hits in a second-round game in Division I at Thousand Oaks.
Jennifer Richards drove in two runs for the Lancers (21-8), who play Mater Dei in the quarterfinals.
Foothill 5, Buena 0--Marie Gieron struck out seven and allowed four hits in a Division I second-round game at Buena.
Gieron had two hits, an RBI and scored a run for Foothill (29-2).
Crescenta Valley 7, Peninsula 0--Amy Chapman hit a three-run home run in the third inning of a second-round game of the Division II playoffs.
Danielle Ferreira pitched a two-hitter and struck out 11 batters for the Falcons (22-6), who face Woodbridge in the quarterfinals.
Saugus 1, La Habra 0--Pitcher Jamie Gillies (21-3) scattered five hits and scored the only run on Shannon McRoy’s single after her lead-off triple in the fifth inning of a second-round Division II game at La Habra.
Saugus (24-4), ranked No. 1 in the region by The Times, plays Millikan in the quarterfinals.
Righetti 1, Hart 0--Jocelyn Borft pitched a no-hitter and struck out 14 in a Division II second-round game at Hart (21-8).
Stephanie Cain hit her first home run of the season with one out in the fifth inning for Righetti (24-6).
Arlington 5, Louisville 3--Jamie Vandusen singled home Danielle Ray with the go-ahead run to cap a three-run fourth inning for the Lions in a Division III second round game at Louisville.
Liz Hudson had three hits and an RBI the Royals (13-10).
Redondo 2, Alemany 1--Megan Dunbabin singled home Alyssa Bostrom in the sixth inning with the game-winning run for the Seahawks in a Division III second round playoff game at Redondo.
Angela De La Cerda scored on an error in the first inning for the Indians (20-5).
Oak Park 10, St. Genevieve 0--Kaylene Boldroff (11-7) pitched a three-hitter and struck out 15 for the Eagles (16-11) in a second-round Division V game at St. Genevieve (9-7).
The Eagles play Riverside Notre Dame in the quarterfinals.
Calabasas 2, Valley Christian Cerritos 1--Kelly Cheever drove in both Coyote runs with a double in the sixth inning in a second-round Division V victory at Valley Christian.
Kelly Sargent (13-2-1) pitched her fifth one-hitter of the season for Calabasas (21-6-1), which will play Crossroads in the quarterfinals.
Moorpark 8, Chadwick 0--Erin Heinbechner (15-4) pitched a five-hitter, struck out six and walked none for the Musketeers (17-8) in a second-round Division V game at Chadwick.
Moorpark scored five runs in the sixth inning with two out. Meaghan Finnerty had four hits, two RBIs and two runs, and Tracey Milburn had three hits, two RBIs and two runs for the Musketeers, who face Kern Valley in the quarterfinals.
Cornerstone Christian 6, Santa Maria Valley Christian 2--Jen Feistel and Heather Breshears combined on a one-hitter for the Eagles (18-2) in a Division VI second-round game at Santa Maria Valley Christian.
The Eagles play Providence in the quarterfinals.
Providence 7, L.A. Lutheran 4--Carly Cabrera (13-3) scattered six hits and allowed two earned runs for the Pioneers (14-4) in a Division VI second-round game at L.A. Lutheran.
The Pioneers play Cornerstone Christian on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
