ABC to Shut Down ABC Productions: The move is effective June 7, resulting in the elimination of 13 jobs. The division, one of the network’s in-house production arms, was considered redundant in the wake of the network’s acquisition by a major program supplier, Walt Disney Co. Brian McAndrews, the executive in charge of ABC Productions, will continue to oversee ABC’s production alliances with DreamWorks SKG, Brillstein-Grey Entertainment and Jim Henson Productions, as well as separate production arms that produce TV movies, documentaries and children’s programming. A network memo said efforts will be made to relocate employees of the division, formed in 1989, within the company.
