Program to Aid in Keeping Female Workers
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, women make up only about 3% of the work force in the construction industry although women account for nearly half of the entire U.S. labor pool. To help create a better balance, the Pacific Coast Builders Conference is hosting a new program on how home builders and others in the construction industry can recruit and retain more female employees. Called “Tapping New Labor Sources: Opportunities for Women in the Building Industry,” the program is set for June 28 in San Francisco. It is being sponsored by the National Assn. of Home Builders.
