CASTAIC — An inmate walked away from a work crew Wednesday at the Pitchess jail, authorities said.
Feliz Ortega, 28, of Los Angeles was reported missing at about noon from a crew working outside the South Facility, said Deputy Matthew Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers from surrounding law enforcement facilities and patrol stations were searching for the inmate, he said.
Ortega, who was due to be released Aug. 21, was serving time for drug dealing, Rodriguez said.
