Kim Mortensen of Thousand Oaks is the top female high school distance runner in the nation this year. The senior won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs in 4:46.28 and 10.06.21, respectively, at the Southern Section finals last Saturday. Her 3,200 time was the fourth best all-time for high school girls outdoors.
