Officer Injured When Patrol Car Sideswiped

An Oxnard police officer was injured Thursday afternoon when his patrol car was sideswiped by a pickup truck pulling away from a curb on 5th Street near Meta Street.
Officer Michael Trotter, 36, of Oxnard suffered a broken right ankle and cuts and bruises.
He was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard.
Trotter was on patrol about 1:20 p.m. when Evangelina Moreno Peregrino, 40, drove her 1984 Dodge pickup away from the 5th Street curb.
When the pickup sideswiped Trotter’s car, the police car crossed over the opposing lanes of traffic into a parking lot and hit the Napa Auto Parts building at 235 E. 5th St.
No one has been charged in the accident.
