Ballot Measure Aims to Trim Business Fees

The cost of doing business in the city may decrease in November if a ballot measure is approved by voters.
City Council members, who said they want to make Los Alamitos more business-friendly, have drafted a measure that would eliminate the current 5% annual increase in business-licensing fees.
Instead, the city would have a fee scale that would increase in relation to the cost-of-living index. The proposal would include a 5% cap in case the inflation rate were to rise more than that.
The Los Alamitos Chamber of Commerce has stated its support of the measure, which will go before voters Nov. 5.
