Interscope Bidding: Interscope Music, the publishing arm of successful Westwood-based Interscope Records, is weighing offers to sign an estimated $20-million joint-venture deal with several entertainment conglomerates, including PolyGram and EMI Music. MCA Inc., which last year paid $200 million for half of Interscope Records, has also expressed interest in purchasing a 50% stake in the firm’s publishing division. Interscope Music, which controls the rights to songs by such artists as No Doubt and Tupac Shakur, opened in 1992 as a joint-venture deal with Warner Chappell. That contract expired in July.
MCA Concerts Canada: MCA’s Concerts Inc. emerged this week as the dominant force in the $75-million Canadian concert business after acquiring its biggest rival, BCL Entertainment, in a multimillion-dollar deal.
