Tracor Flight Systems Inc.’s aircraft systems division said it expects to hire 100 workers at its existing plant in Mojave and a new facility in Lancaster as a result of a $30-million contract from McDonnell Douglas Corp.
The unit of Austin, Texas-based defense electronics concern Tracor Inc. will build a structure to join the wings of the MD-95 twin jet under development by Douglas Aircraft. The MD-95 is a new version of the DC-9 twin jet that is being designed to meet more stringent noise and emission requirements, and lower operating costs for the airlines.
