Rep. Howard Berman (D-Van Nuys) will discuss welfare reform, immigration and other topics at a meeting tonight sponsored by the Panorama City Neighborhood Assn. Panorama City residents are invited to attend the meeting, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Hospital.
“This is an opportunity for me to help translate what is going on in Washington into terms that people can understand,” Berman said. “It’s also a good opportunity for me to find out what’s on people’s minds.”
Said Leslie Yamashita, director of the neighborhood association: “It’s not often that people have a chance to talk directly to their congressman. It’s important for them to come out and let their concerns be heard.”
In addition to immigration and welfare reform, other topics to be covered include health-care reform, earthquake insurance and law enforcement issues. Berman will also be available to answer questions.
The meeting will be held in rooms 1, 2 and 3 of Kaiser’s North 2 Building at the southeast corner of Roscoe Boulevard and Woodman Avenue.
