Jon Silo; Actor Provided ‘Laugh Therapy’

Jon Silo, 89, a veteran actor who provided “Laugh Therapy” to physical rehabilitation patients. Silo’s acting credits ranged from the musical “Oklahoma!” to the film “The Fortune Cookie” and the television series “Kojak.” He was recruited by Dr. Harry Glassman, who was impressed by Silo’s optimism after his own stroke and triple-bypass operation. The doctor asked the actor to share his positive outlook with other physical therapy patients at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Silo’s wife, Ruth, an actress, joined him to lead the bimonthly sessions for patients who had suffered strokes or neurological or orthopedic injuries. On Aug. 4 in Los Angeles.
