Dial Finishes Spinoff: The Phoenix-based company said it completed the spinoff of its $1.6-billion consumer products group into a new company that takes the Dial name. The existing company retained its $2.5-billion convention, airline catering and financial-payment services business, and has been renamed Viad Corp. Both companies are to begin trading today on the New York Stock Exchange. Under the tax-free spinoff, Viad shareholders received a share of the new Dial Corp. for each share held in the former parent company. The transaction is tax-free. Dial said the spinoff will allow both the new Dial and Viad to pursue growth plans without constraints.
