Pacific Sunwear Sees Sales, Income Rise in 2nd Quarter

ANAHEIM — Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. posted sharp gains in net income and sales for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 4.
The retailer of casual apparel, accessories and footwear said net income totaled $1.5 million, or 27 cents a share, up from $218,000, or 4 cents a share, in the second quarter last year. Sales rose 35%, to $34.6 million from $25.7 million.
In the first half, the company earned $1.3 million, or 24 cents a share, contrasted with a net loss of $400,000, or 8 cents a share, a year ago. Sales increased 38%, to $62.2 million from $45.1 million.
