A 12-year-old boy was killed and a 15-year-old youth was wounded in an apparent gang drive-by shooting in Pomona on Friday, police said.
Derrick Webster died after two people in a maroon or burgundy car cruised by, yelled a gang name and opened fire at him as he rode his bicycle in the 2200 block of Carlton Avenue shortly before 3 p.m., police said. Webster’s 15-year-old companion, who was also on a bike, was shot in the upper part of the body and was listed in critical condition Friday.
A police spokesman said the department has no suspects and hasn’t established whether the victims had gang ties.
