Furon Co. Says Net Gained 44% for 2nd Quarter to $3.9 Million

LAGUNA NIGUEL — Furon Co., which makes engineered polymer components for the industrial marketplace, reported net income of $3.9 million, or 43 cents a share, for the second quarter, 44% higher than the $2.7 million, or 30 cents a share, posted a year ago. Sales for the quarter ended Aug. 3 increased 17% to $96.2 million from $82.3 million. For the first half, net income rose 39% to $8.5 million, or 93 cents a share, from $6.1 million, or 67 cents a share, for the first six months of the prior fiscal year. Sales were up 12% to $191 million from $170.8 million. The company attributed the increases to growth in most of the key market segments served by Furon as well as contributions from recent acquisitions.
