Chamber to Sponsor Anti-Crime Seminar

An ongoing trend of burglaries committed against several area businesses in recent months has prompted members of the Northridge Chamber of Commerce to sponsor an anti-crime seminar Monday.
The free program will be presented by Los Angeles Police Department Senior Lead Officer Sally Barnes and chamber board member Lt. Paul Wright of the LAPD Devonshire Division.
Its purpose is to inform business owners and members of the community how to prevent burglaries, as well as how to prepare employees in the event of a robbery, said Barnes, who helped organize the seminar. The program was arranged in response to crimes committed against businesses along Reseda Boulevard and Tampa Avenue, Barnes said.
At the seminar, business owners will learn what types of crimes are being committed, how they are occurring and tips on how to prevent them. Barnes will also present information on how to safeguard doors and windows.
The anti-crime seminar, which is open to the public, will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Devonshire Division station, 10250 Etiwanda Ave. For more information, call the Northridge Chamber of Commerce at (818) 349-5676.
