Collision in Westchester Leaves 3 Dead, 2 Critically Injured

From Times Wire Services

A speeding Porsche collided with another vehicle at a Westchester intersection Monday evening, killing three people and leaving two in critical condition, a police sergeant said.

“The Porsche was driving pretty fast and crossed over the yellow line and collided with the other car,” said Sgt. Gloria Vargas of the Los Angeles Police Department’s West Traffic Division.

“We don’t know if alcohol was involved.”

The 8:18 p.m. accident occurred at Jefferson and Lincoln boulevards, Vargas said. “That’s a pretty open, fast highway,” Vargas said.

“It is not uncommon to see people going about 60 mph trying to beat the [traffic] light. . . .”

City fire spokesman Bob Collis said the man driving the Porsche was taken to UCLA Medical Center in critical condition and two men and a woman in the other car were killed.

Another woman in that car was also taken to UCLA in critical condition. A hospital emergency room employee would not comment on the condition of the injured people.
