Grant Helps More Kids See Museum

The Gull Wings Children’s Museum in Oxnard has won a $2,000 grant that will enable more than 650 children who attend schools that have no money for field trips to see the exhibits.
“We want our museum to be available for all the people in Ventura County and beyond,” said Heather Rubio, an executive assistant with the museum.
Chevron is expected to present the grant Sept. 26 to the museum, which features hands-on exhibits on geography, science and other fields.
The grant will essentially enable the museum to waive its $3 admission for students who attend Chapter 8 schools, or institutions without field trip money.
