Man Charged With Murder in Wife’s Death

Jude Nwandu, arrested last week on charges of killing his wife and dragging her body behind his van, was charged Monday with one count of murder and one count of felony evasion at his arraignment in Inglewood Municipal Court.
Nwandu, 44, a Nigerian national living in Inglewood, was chased by police last Friday when they saw a body tied at the ankles being dragged behind a van. When they tried to stop Nwandu, he led police on a one-mile chase, officials said.
The coroner’s department completed its autopsy on Georginia Nwandu and determined that she died from head trauma and strangulation and had been run over by a car. She apparently died before her body was tied to the van, coroner’s spokesman Scott Carrier said.
Nwandu is being held on $1 million bail. The couple’s five children, ages 1 through 12, were taken into custody by the county Children’s Protective Services department.
