YWCA Events to Stress Prevention of Violence

The second annual YWCA “Week Without Violence” will begin Oct. 6 with events scheduled across the county.
Officials of the YWCA of North Orange County said the event is a call for people to live one week without participating in or experiencing violence. The public is invited to attend the free activities.
Events include:
* Oct. 6. A candlelight vigil to remember victims of violence; 7 p.m. at the YWCA of Central Orange County, 146 N. Grand St., Orange.
* Oct. 7. A program on disciplining children; 7 p.m. at the YWCA of North Orange County, 321 N. Pomona Ave., Fullerton.
* Oct. 7. A conference for teenagers and adults on teenage dating violence; 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Sequoia Athletic Club, at the southwest corner of Beach Boulevard and Orangethorpe Avenue in Buena Park. Admission for teenagers is free, but adults will be charged $25.
* Oct. 8. A program in Spanish on disciplining children; 7 p.m. at Garnet Community Center, 3012 Garnet Lane #A, Fullerton.
* Oct. 9. A program on sexual assault presented for Cal State Fullerton fraternities and other interested men; 7 p.m. at Cal State Fullerton, 800 State College Blvd.
* Oct. 10. A panel presentation for women on domestic violence; 7 p.m. at Brea Community Center, 695 W. Madison Way, Brea.
* Oct. 12. A street fair focusing on health, fitness and community resources; 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Wilshire Street between Harbor Boulevard and Pomona Avenue in Fullerton. Free immunizations and health checks will be offered.
