* Questions for Orange County Sheriff Brad Gates (“Initiative on Medical Use of Marijuana Pits Unlikely Foes,” Sept. 16) about medical use of marijuana.
Two decades ago, I was obliged to break my beloved country’s law to obtain marijuana to ease my daughter’s cancer chemotherapy. (Fortunately, I could afford the outrageous price and wasn’t forced to break another law to obtain the money; the price has escalated in the interim as a consequence of the alleged “war on drugs.”)
Sheriff, was I wrong? Do you favor criminalizing people who do what is right?
