One of the suspects in last weekend’s near-fatal shooting of a rookie Los Angeles police officer surrendered Thursday night, police said.
Raul Jimenez, 47, walked into the Los Angeles Police Department’s Central Station, along with his attorney and a television newscaster.
On Saturday, Patrol Officer Jay Cicinelli was shot five times after a traffic stop near Florence and Normandie avenues. Cicinelli, who remains in stable condition, will lose the use of his left eye.
Another suspect, Martin Benitez, 25, was apprehended after the shooting when he checked into a hospital with gunshot wounds sustained from shots fired by Cicinelli’s partner.
A third suspect has not been identified.
