New Fourth of July Activities in Works
A new lineup of activities for the city’s annual Fourth of July festivities will be considered by the City Council today.
Very little will change with the fireworks display, which is set to live music and received positive reviews from residents last year, officials said. About 7,000 people attended the 1996 event.
Hoping to offer more activities for teenagers, however, the city recreation staff is proposing to add a rock-climbing wall, a speed pitch booth and a sand castle pit to the Independence Day celebration at Laguna Hills High School.
At least one new activity will be aimed at younger family members. For the first time, a local beauty salon will offer patriotically themed hairstyles--such as braiding red, white and blue ribbon and silver wire stars into clients’ hair.
The council will meet at 7 tonight in chambers, 25201 Paseo de Alicia, Suite 150. Information: (714) 707-2600.
