Santa Margarita Hits Nine Homers in 31-4 Victory

Santa Margarita hit nine home runs, tying a Southern Section single-game record, in its 31-4 Sea View League baseball victory Tuesday over host Corona del Mar.
Mike LaRue hit three home runs, giving him 12 this season, and Andy Hopper also hit three home runs for the Eagles (18-7, 9-5 in league). Both had six runs batted in.
Randall Shelley hit two home runs for Santa Margarita, which tied Canyon’s record set in 1994. The Eagles have 46 home runs this season. Glendora and Playa del Rey St. Bernard hold the section’s single-season record at 51.
