PALMDALE — A woman was killed when two vehicles collided at an intersection early Tuesday, authorities said.
Palmdale resident Susan Pontis, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown out of her station wagon, California Highway Patrol Officer Mary Revie said. The other driver, Dorothy Gould of Little Rock, Ark., was taken by helicopter to Antelope Valley Hospital with moderate but not life-threatening injuries, Revie said.
The accident occurred about 4:40 a.m. at 90th Street East and Avenue N, she said.
Pontis was traveling east on Avenue N when her vehicle was broadsided by Gould’s pickup truck, Revie said.
“It appears that [Pontis] ran the stop sign,” Revie said.
Gould, who was traveling north on 90th Street East, did not have to stop.
