A motion to reduce the $500,000 bail for a 27-year-old woman accused of trying to kill her newborn daughter by dumping her in a trash bin was denied Wednesday in Inglewood Municipal Court, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Kathleen Diesman.
Wendy Renee Hobbs, of Inglewood, was arrested Aug. 3, hours after neighbors heard what they thought was a cat crying in a trash bin, only to discover a baby with its umbilical cord still attached. Hobbs has pleaded not guilty and is being held at Sybil Brand Institute for Women.
The baby was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was listed in good condition. The county Department of Children and Family Services has placed the baby with Hobbs’ mother, officials said.
