City Offered Grants for Anti-Drug Program

ANAHEIM — Council members Tuesday will consider accepting more than $650,000 in grants to continue a student drug-abuse prevention program and to buy mobile computers for police officers.
The city has been approved for a $91,392 grant from the state office of criminal justice planning for the Police Department’s anti-drug program in Anaheim schools.
The grant money would be used for the salary of one school and community policing officer for education and enforcement.
In a separate action, the council will consider accepting a $560,690 grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance. The money would go toward buying 54 mobile personal computers, 54 data radios and related equipment.
