Chaminade 13, Glendale 0--Freshman striker Kim Taylor set a school record with five goals, Amy Watts scored twice and the Eagles, top-ranked in the Division III preseason poll, rolled to an opening rout.
Oak Park 3, Notre Dame 3--Notre Dame’s Melissa Rubey scored her second goal on a penalty shot with two minutes to play, lifting the Knights into a nonleague tie at Notre Dame.
Courtney Arrigo also scored for the Knights and Rebecca Carroll scored three goals for the Eagles. Carroll, a junior, has 43 goals in her varsity career.
BOYS
Monroe 2, Grant 1--Hugo Videla scored with five minutes remaining on a scramble in the penalty area for the visiting Vikings (3-2-0, 1-0-0) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference opener.
Reseda 4, Canoga Park 0--Oscar Sims scored three goals and Jesse Servin one in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Canoga Park.
North Hollywood 1, Van Nuys 0--Najib Benjelloun scored in the 20th minute of a Valley Pac-8 Conference opener after taking a pass from Adam Fleisher.
Canyon 3, Quartz Hill 1--Jesus Figuero scored twice and Ryan Tohill once for the Cowboys (1-1) in a nonleague victory at Canyon.
Crespi 4, Paraclete 0--Eric Balderrama scored twice in a nonleague opener at Crespi.
Burroughs 1, Blair 1--Stergios Economos scored from eight yards out in the 70th minute to give the Indians a tie in a nonleague opener at Burroughs.
Calabasas 4, Carpinteria 3--Itzik Rappaport scored twice, his third and fourth goals in two days, and the Coyotes (2-0) won a nonleague game at Carpinteria.
