A shooting at a birthday party Sunday killed two people and wounded four others, including a 13-year-old girl, police said.

No arrests were initially made after the 3 a.m. attack at an apartment on Sixth Street, police Det. Mike Macias said in a statement.

The attack occurred when eight to 10 teenagers and young adults tried to crash the party and were stopped at the front door.

An argument ensued, during which at least two people drew guns and opened fire, Macias said.

“Who shot and how many shots were fired [have] not been determined,” Macias said.

“When the first officers arrived, they found a chaotic scene of people running all over; some were screaming, others crying,” the detective said.

Two handguns were found near the apartment, he said.

Two men found near the front door of an apartment were pronounced dead at the scene. One had been shot in the chest and the other in the head or shoulder area, police said. Their identities were not immediately released.

Three other victims were found about a block away. Lonnie K. Knox, 24, of Colton was shot in the buttocks; Faerinn M. Farr, 24, of Rialto was wounded in the chest; and John M. Flores, 25, of Ontario was shot in the abdomen and buttocks, police said.

The men underwent surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center, but there was no immediate word on their conditions.

Ontario is 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles.
