Banner Year Reported in Sales of Apartments

Thomas Associates, a Ventura-based investment real estate brokerage specializing in apartment sales, said 1997 was its best year in the last five.
The firm said it closed escrow on more than 530 county apartment units this year, with hundreds more under contract to close in the first quarter of 1998.
“Demand for apartment investments is much higher [now] in Ventura County,” said company broker Mark Thomas. “Buyers are very attracted to the area because of its low crime, climate and growth potential.”
Thomas said that real estate investment trusts and private investors are driving up the demand, and consequently the selling prices, for apartments.
