Orange Coast College has been awarded $95,000 by the California Community College Chancellor’s Office to create a School of Allied Health Professions, which will align 11 existing campus programs.
The programs prepare students to enter the health care field with a core of skills and abilities, said Kevin T. Ballinger, dean of the college’s Consumer and Health Sciences Division.
The programs coming together for the school are allied health core, cardiovascular technology, dental assisting, dietetic technology, diagnostic medical sonography, emergency medical technology, medical assisting/health records, neurodiagnostic technology, polysomnography technology, radiologic technology and respiratory care.
A faculty advisor, acting as a counseling and information resource for students, will be provided.
The college also will develop a tracking system within the school to monitor student progress.
