Orange Coast College Donates 3,000 Gifts

Orange Coast College students and faculty collected 3,180 gifts this season for needy and abused youngsters.

All gifts, including bicycles, dolls, sporting equipment, books, games and clothing, will go to Orange County children. The items are valued at $20,000 and are $1 to $200 each.

The college arranged the gift-giving through its Angel Tree Project, where students and instructors select gifts for children at random. This is the project’s 13th year.

Last year 2,995 gifts were collected.

“Our students and staff were incredibly generous in their giving this year,” said Barbara Newbern, College Life director. “This is the largest number of gifts we’ve ever received.”
