Monday’s practice was Nebraska’s last day in full pads, and sitting out were freshman wingback/quarterback Bobby Newcombe and junior fullback Joel Makovicka. Assistant coach Frank Solich said that Newcombe is suffering from a groin problem and Makovicka is bothered by his a hamstring.
But Makovicka is more troubled more by a hyperextension of his right knee. He said it is sore but won’t keep him out of Friday’s game.
“I could have a broken leg and be playing in this game,” he said.
