Three players on last season’s Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team have informed new Coach Denise Curry that they won’t be playing for the Titans next season.
They include starting center Dee Braxton and freshman reserve Jackie Bucher. “I don’t know where they’ll be playing at this point,” Curry said Thursday, “but they’ve told me they don’t plan to be back with us.”
A third player, reserve Celine Rasche-Schuermann, plans to return to her native Germany and play there, Curry said.
Braxton ranked third on the team in scoring (12.7 points) and was the leading rebounder (10.1) last season as a sophomore. Bucher, a freshman from Denver, averaged 8.7 points and 6.8 rebounds. Rasche-Schuermann played in only three games.
Curry said she has hired Tamlyn Tills as one of her assistants, leaving two vacancies on the staff. Tills was an assistant for one season for Deborah Ayres, who resigned after coaching the Titans five seasons. Curry replaced Ayres in May.
