ATLANTA — For five years, Dennis Tanner has protected former President Carter as a Secret Service agent. Now Carter is coming to the aid of Tanner, who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, said they would attend a softball game and concert this weekend in Plains to raise money for Tanner.
A barbecue and concert were to be held Saturday at the Americus fairgrounds, and the softball game and another concert were planned for today in Plains. Guests were asked to contribute whatever money they could.
