Principal Convicted of Assault on 3

WASHINGTON — The black school principal convicted of assaulting a white newspaper reporter and two policemen was sentenced to two years of supervised probation and ordered to perform community service.
Superior Court Judge Truman Morrison complained Wednesday that principal Mary Anigbo accepted “absolutely no responsibility” for her crime.
Anigbo, principal of the Afrocentric-based Marcus Garvey Charter School in northeast Washington, was convicted in August of the Dec. 3 assault on Washington Times reporter Susan Ferrechio and two police officers called to investigate the incident.
“This case is about race and it will always be about race,” Anigbo’s attorney, Veronice Holt, said after the sentencing.
