Peter Hudnut scored seven goals in Harvard-Westlake High’s 16-5 victory over Glendale in the second round of Harvard-Westlake tournament pool play on Friday.
Hudnut has 12 goals in two tournament games.
The Wolverines (2-0) also got three goals from Mike Crosby.
Kevin Witt scored two of his three goals in the fourth quarter for Glendale (0-2).
In other boys’ water polo matches:
Crespi 22, Rio Mesa 1--Kevin Fitzpatrick had five goals, and Mike Buckner and Mark Wilson each added four for the Celts (1-1) at the Harvard-Westlake tournament.
Crescenta Valley 10, Agoura 5--Kenny Carpenter, Justin Payne and Brian Lange each scored two goals for the Falcons (2-0) at the Harvard-Westlake tournament.
Nordhoff 11, San Marcos 9--Justin Jewell scored two goals in the last 1:30 to cap a fourth-quarter rally by the Rangers (2-0) at San Marcos.
Tory Rubrecht had three goals and Cory Gustafson added two for Nordhoff, which trailed after three quarters, 8-7.
Notre Dame 10, Calabasas 7--Danny Paz and Tyler Ence each scored two second-half goals but the Coyotes were unable to overcome a 7-0 halftime deficit in a pool-play game of the Thousand Oaks tournament.
Calabasas held Notre Dame scoreless in the third quarter. Eddie Quezada, Kevin Wetzel and Yuki Osuga also scored for the Coyotes.
La Canada 13, Magnolia 6--Brendan Naeve scored seven goals as the Spartans ran their record to 3-0. Michael McDay and Charles Change each had two goals for La Canada. Goalkeepers Russell Bernstein and Jonathan Harman combined for 11 saves.
GIRLS’ TENNIS
Thousand Oaks 10, Harvard-Westlake 8--The No. 2 doubles team of Tammi Smith and Nisha Parmar rallied from a 5-2 deficit to beat Harvard-Westlake’s No. 3 team of Marissa Kase and Teresa Laksmana, 7-6 (7-5), and clinch a nonleague victory for the Lancers (1-1) at Thousand Oaks.
No. 1 singles player Stephanie Berg swept three sets for Harvard-Westlake (0-1).
Westridge 11, La Canada 7--Playing without No. 1 singles player Deanna Jin, who has not taken a physical, the Spartans (0-1) fell at South Pasadena Racquet Center.
Replacement No. 1 Dabney Lee won two sets and the No. 3 team of Lauren Schultz and Molly Roberts won two doubles sets for La Canada.
Royal 10, Quartz Hill 8--No. 1 player Nicole Williford swept her singles sets but the Rebels (1-1) fell to Royal (2-0) in a nonleague match at Quartz Hill.
Simi Valley 16, Oak Park 2--Eugenia Koo and April Forrester lost just two games in three doubles sets for the Pioneers (2-0) at Notre Dame High.
Simi Valley’s Stella Chu lost only two games in winning her three singles matches.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Simi Valley d. Burbank, 15-6, 15-2, 15-4--Summer Page and Courtney Lind each had five kills and Page added seven digs for the Pioneers (1-0) at Simi Valley.
Setter Krista Drummond served four aces for Simi Valley.
Buckley d. St. Genevieve, 15-9, 13-15, 15-13, 15-8--Ashley Crosner had 15 kills and 13 blocks while Jessica Ekeberg contributed 13 kills for the Griffins (1-1) in a nonleague match at St. Genevieve.
CROSS-COUNTRY
Bonita Vista Invitational--Oak Park’s Stephen Martin finished third in the boys’ large schools division in San Diego, helping the Eagles to a sixth-place finish.
Also for Oak Park, Stephanie Morales finished eighth in the girls’ small-school race and freshman Mark Nevers finished ninth in the boys’ small-school race.
