PRIVACY RIGHTS

The letters from Bill Lawrence and Glen Grant (Sept. 21) demonstrate a basic lack of understanding of the difference between publicity and an invasive press.

Most actors want people to watch their shows or see their movies, so the publicity benefits them. Publicity for a particular project, however, is a far cry from having a camera thrust in your face 24 hours a day. If it has no relation to a person’s work, then it’s really nobody else’s business. That doesn’t stop certain people from reveling in the attention or using bad judgment in dealing with the press, but everyone has a right to keep their private life private.
