Linfield 41, Heritage Christian 8--Led by Josh Stevens, who rushed for 136 yards in 10 carries, Temucula Linfield beat Heritage Christian in a nonleague game. Linfield rushed for a total of 248 yards in 30 carries and four touchdowns. The Lions completed four of seven passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns.
Only 7 minutes into the first quarter, Linfield took a 13-0 lead on a three-yard run by Jace Chapin, after an interception by Victor Gloria at the Patriot 32.
After the kickoff, Linfield was called for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. Chris Myrtle hit Hancock with a 29-yard pass bringing the ball to the 21. Two plays later, Myrtle completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Hancock. Paul Caffrey’s conversion run made the score 13-8.
The Patriots were limited to 30 yards total rushing. Myrtle added 105 yards passing, but three interceptions marred his effort.
Linfield led at the half, 34-8.
Jacob Somerville led Heritage Christian in rushing with 32 yards in 11 carries.
“We were way overmatched tonight,” Heritage Christian Coach Tom Caffrey said. “We were not even close to being in the ball game.”
