Laguna Beach Gets Tournament Title

Laguna Beach’s junior varsity team defeated Katella’s varsity team, 15-8, to win the Aliso Niguel volleyball tournament Saturday at Aliso Viejo.
Laguna Beach’s Brett Bond and Maggie Mallarian were named to the all-tournament team. The Artists were 4-2 in round-robin play and advanced to the championship with a 15-10 semifinal victory over Lakewood.
In the Las Vegas Durango girls’ volleyball classic:
Mater Dei 2, Westlake Village Westlake 0--Amy DeCinces had 12 kills and Katie Price had 28 assists for Mater Dei, which defeated Westlake, 15-7, 15-10, in the championship match.
Price was named most valuable player. DeCinces and Megan Sabo were selected to the all-tournament team.
In the Santa Barbara San Marcos girls’ volleyball tournament:
Ocean View 1, Santa Barbara San Marcos 0--Sharon Shelton had eight kills for Ocean View, which won, 15-4, in the finals.
Ocean View’s Tracy Lindquist was the tournament’s most valuable player. Shelton and Amy Knebel were selected to the all-tournament team.
In the University girls’ volleyball tournament:
University 1, Foothill 0--Camille Robles had four kills for University, which defeated Foothill, 15-12, in the finals.
