Seniors Evacuated for Housing Complex Fire

About 40 people were evacuated but no one was injured when a fire broke out Monday at a senior citizens complex, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The blaze started at 1:16 p.m., sparked by a toaster oven that was left on in a unit at the Fountains Senior Apartments, a three-story building at 30751 El Corazon, fire Capt. Scott Brown said.
The building’s sprinkler system played a vital role in minimizing danger, Brown said, adding that without it, “we may even have experienced some fatalities.”
Firefighters put out the blaze within 30 minutes, Brown said. No damage estimate was available.
