Commitment: Palmdale High running back Jason Anderson said he will make a commitment today to Langston University, an NAIA school in Oklahoma.
Anderson was selected the Golden League’s back of the year in 1997 after rushing for 1,304 yards and nine touchdowns to lead the Falcons to their second consecutive league title.
BOXING
Prime time: The 10-round junior-middleweight bout tonight between Fernando Vargas of Oxnard and Romallis Ellis in an undercard at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Foxwoods, Conn., will be televised live on USA. Vargas is 10-0 with 10 knockouts.
BASKETBALL
Signing on: Montclair Prep center Jedidiah Hall has committed to Azusa Pacific and teammate Rocky Steryo, a guard, will attend Menlo College.
SOCCER
Northridge-bound: Nicki Miller, a senior forward at Claremont High, has commited to Cal State Northridge.

Calling all players: The 1998 Conejo Valley Days slow-pitch softball tournament is scheduled for April 18-19.
The tournament includes men’s, women’s and senior divisions.
The registration fee for men’s and women’s teams is $145; $105 for senior teams. There is also a $10-per-game umpire fee.
