Harrick: No Plans to Join the NBA

Rhode Island Coach Jim Harrick, who led his team to the NCAA tournament’s final eight this season, said Thursday that he has no plans to leave for a job in the NBA.
Harrick has said being in the NBA is the “pinnacle of coaching basketball,” and he has been mentioned as a coaching candidate for the Clippers if Bill Fitch is fired.
But Harrick said rumors that he is leaving Rhode Island are false.
“The media took that and blew it way out of proportion,” Harrick said of his comments on the NBA. “Recruiting is my focus now.”
The Clippers also have called the reports baseless.
Harrick is no stranger to Los Angeles, however. He coached UCLA to an NCAA championship before being fired for a recruiting violation.
