Six people were injured, two of them critically, when a driver ran a red light Monday and collided with another vehicle in Cypress, police said.
Two passengers were ejected and one was trapped inside a GMC Jimmy when its 16-year-old driver, who was traveling north on Denni Street about 2:30 p.m., failed to stop at Orange Avenue, authorities said. The vehicle struck an Isuzu Rodeo traveling east on Orange, then rolled over, Cypress Police Agent Al Watts said.
Two other passengers in the sport-utility vehicle and the driver of the Isuzu also were injured, he said.
The two people critically injured were taken to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, one of them by helicopter, authorities said. The others were taken by ambulance to other local hospitals.
The accident was still under investigation late Monday, Cypress police said.
