Alberto Munoz / Cross-Country
A senior, Munoz won the Division IV individual title at the state cross-country championships at Woodward Park in Fresno last weekend. Although his time of 15 minutes 53 seconds was not the best turned in by a county runner over the 3.1-mile course, he ran a strategic race and in doing so was able to avenge his four-second loss to Big Bear’s Ryan Hall in the Southern Section final. This time Munoz, who won by 10 seconds, stayed shoulder-to-shoulder with Hall for 2 1/2 miles until the latter dropped off the pace.
